Terms of Service

Jelao (“Jelao”, “we”, “us”) is a hosted Discord bot and web dashboard, operated by us, that helps server administrators manage their Discord communities. By adding Jelao to a server or signing in to the dashboard, you agree to these terms. Jelao runs inside Discord and is also subject to Discord’s own Terms of Service.

Who can use Jelao

You must meet Discord’s minimum age requirement (at least 13, or older where your local law requires) to use Discord and Jelao. If you add Jelao to a server, you confirm you have permission to manage that server.

Using Jelao

Server administrators choose which modules to enable and are responsible for how Jelao is configured and used in their server. Don’t use Jelao to:

• break the law, or violate Discord’s Terms or Community Guidelines;
• harass, abuse, or harm others, or distribute malicious or illegal content;
• disrupt or overload the service — spamming requests, abusing rate limits, or exploiting bugs instead of reporting them;
• attempt to gain unauthorized access to the bot, dashboard, API, or to data belonging to other servers or users;
• resell, rebrand, or pass Jelao off as your own service.

Your server, your responsibility

Administrators control which modules are enabled, and therefore what the bot does and what data it collects in their server. If a feature you turn on processes member data, you are responsible for telling your members and obtaining any consent your local law requires. How we handle data is described in our Privacy Policy.

If you enable support tickets, you’re responsible for telling participants that their ticket messages are stored and can be exported. Features that surface outside content, such as RSS feeds, may show material we don’t control and aren’t responsible for.

Custom commands, scripts, and automod

Custom commands, scripts, and automod rules you create run on our infrastructure but are your responsibility. We may suspend or stop any that overload the service, break these terms, or harm others. Moderation features are best-effort — we don’t guarantee they catch everything, and we’re not liable for actions they take or content they miss.

Virtual items and games

Economy balances, casino and poker chips, XP/levels, and similar in-bot items are virtual. They have no real-world monetary value, cannot be exchanged for money or anything of value, and may be reset or adjusted at any time. The casino, poker, and economy features are for entertainment only — they are not real-money gambling.

Virtual items can’t be bought, sold, or topped up with real money, and there’s no way to add to a balance with a real-world payment. Don’t buy, sell, or trade items, chips, or balances for money or anything of value outside Jelao — doing so breaks these terms. We don’t operate a regulated gaming service; the casino and poker features simulate gambling for entertainment only, and where that isn’t permitted it’s your responsibility not to use them.

Availability and changes

Jelao is a hosted service. We may add, change, or remove features, and we may suspend or discontinue Jelao, at any time and without notice. We don’t guarantee that the service will be uninterrupted, or that data won’t occasionally be lost. We’ll avoid breaking things carelessly, but you shouldn’t rely on Jelao as your only record of anything important.

No warranty, and liability

Jelao is provided “as is” and “as available,” without warranties of any kind. To the fullest extent the law allows, we are not liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages, or for lost data or downtime, arising from your use of Jelao.

Our total liability to you for any claim relating to the service is limited to the amount you’ve paid us to use Jelao — which, because Jelao is free, is zero. This doesn’t limit any liability that the law won’t allow us to limit.

If your use of Jelao, your server’s configuration, or content you create through Jelao leads to a claim by someone else, you agree to cover the reasonable costs we incur defending it. This doesn’t apply to claims caused by our own gross negligence or willful misconduct.

Ending use

You can stop using Jelao at any time by removing the bot from your server. We may suspend or terminate access for any server or user that breaks these terms, including the prohibited uses above.

Ownership

Jelao — its name, dashboard, and code — belongs to us. Content you create through Jelao, such as custom commands, scripts, and configuration, stays yours, and you’re responsible for it.

Copyright

If you believe content in a server using Jelao infringes your copyright, contact us at sean@seanstoves.com and we’ll review and remove infringing material.

Not affiliated with Discord

Jelao is an independent service. It isn’t made by, endorsed by, or officially connected with Discord Inc. “Discord” is a trademark of Discord Inc., and your use of Discord is governed by Discord’s own terms.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, USA, without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules. Any dispute relating to Jelao will be brought in the state or federal courts located in Pennsylvania, and you agree to that venue.

Severability and waiver

If any part of these terms is found unenforceable, the rest still applies. If we don’t enforce a term right away, we haven’t waived it. These terms, together with our Privacy Policy, are the entire agreement between you and us about Jelao.

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms as Jelao changes. We’ll revise the date above when we do; significant changes will be noted on the dashboard. Continuing to use Jelao after a change means you accept the updated terms.
